X-Games about to kick off!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

mco-x1-car1.jpgSpinner, Guettler, Sylvester and Mirra have been getting ready for the X-Games all week. It is a huge event with camera’s everywhere and a crowd that will go wild. The SuperPark set-up is looking tight. Not too crazy (for X-Games stands) but tight and full of trannie. No time to pedal around and chill. It is wall to wall with a cradle, two bowl sections, a spine, some walls so it does take some getting used to indeed.

Spinner, Guettler and Mirra will ride this. Nigel Sylvester is an alternate in street so unless someone gets hurt he’ll be watching. Dave has been testing his Rally car a bit last week and also checked out the Big Air ramp. He’s looking fit and ready. Make sure you tune in.

New: Mirraco bar pads

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

mco-barpads1.jpgNot only are the new Mirraco handlebar pads fashionable, everyone who has smashed his face on the crossbar will agree that they would have liked some foam there when the incident happened. If you are concerned about the weight we can tell you that they practically weigh nothing so no worries there.

The 2009 top of the line Mirraco Limited models will come with handlebar pads but they will be available for everyone to put on their own rides too.

Contact your local Mirraco dealer for more information on the Mirraco handlebar pads.

View the Nigel Sylvester interview on Forbes.com

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

mco-nigel-forbes.jpgMichael Ozanian interviewed Nigel Sylvester on Forbes.com. It’s actually a video interview where Nigel talks about his sponsors, his traveling, helping the scene and his new baby; his shop. The more people in the main stream get to hear the positive vibe in BMX, the bigger it will grow and Nigel definitely contributed to that in the interview.

Hit this link that will take you to the movie.

mco-nk-1.jpgThe NIKE program seems to keep yo guys busy. How was the demo at the Nike facility?

Nike always has some stuff going on with us. Two weeks ago was Migration where everybody that rides for Nike 6.0 comes to Portland, OR for like 5 days and there is not one moment of boredom LOL. I only got to go for pretty much one day to do the demo then I had to bounce. For the demo they built a whole street course at the headquarters for all of us to session in front of tons of people.

Do you work close together with the NIKE development team on shoes, colorways, etc?

They are really open to hear what we think 100 percent! Nike is real cool because all they want to do is switch things up every few weeks. They have developed colorways from our input, so that’s cool.

mco-nk-2.jpgNike seems to be storming on the scene with their 6.0 program how is it to get all that support?

Well I’m really stoked on that because the 6.0 program is still really new, just like all the riders on the Team- Garret, Dennis and Nigel and myself. It’s a true Honor to be team-mates with those guys, and we travel a lot as a crew. We are pretty much growing with the Nike6 Program, I know I’m gonna be with them for a LONG TIME!

Anything interesting in the works?

NIKE 6.0 BMX Video! We have been filming for about a year and traveling all over the place. Everybody’s part is gonna be sick, but people are gonna Fall out of their chair after Garret Reynolds’ Part (FULL RESPECT)

Where can people check out the new NIKE site?

Nike6.com is where it’s at.

A little update by Drew Hosselton

mco-drew-osiris.jpgI just got back from a hell of a trip to the LA area, too much fun! So many good spots to ride and fun people to hang out with. I just unpacked and now I have to throw some fresh clothes in the duffel because I’m headed to Mexico tomorrow morning. I am on a quest to see if the fabled donkey show does exist.

A few days ago I came into contact with William Prokopt over at Osiris shoes and he offered me a spot on the team! They are getting their BMX program going again and it looks really promising.

My partner in crime Josh Betley gets back from Ohio in August so I will hopefully be on the road more than I am home then.

Vote for Spinner. Quad whip Best Trick of the week!

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

mco-whipmaster.jpgI’m pretty stoked I got to pull off my quad tailwhip at the Dew Tour last weekend but then I fumbled a few times afterwards so I decided to play it safe in my second run and I ended up in second place.

My Quad Whip is nominated for Playstation Pro Moment or better “Trick Of The Week.” I’m pretty pumped if you guys can help me out and vote for me as many times as you can.

Here’s the link

And see me pull the Quad Whip in the video.

Ryan Guettler interview after Cleveland. No pain, no gain.

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

mco-itwgute3.jpgWhat made you bring out the purple bike to Cleveland?

I had it built up and rode it every now and then in Greenville. I really liked the crome so I took both bikes to Cleveland and was going to ride the purple one in dirt and the black bike in park but on the day I just stuck with the purple one.

Are you superstitious in any way?

No, not at all.

mco-itwgute2.jpgYou did great in Dirt. Did the course fit your riding style or doesn’t that matter too much to you?

At most Dew Tours the jumps are big and pretty scary so I hold back till the finals but this course had smaller jumps so they were super fun to ride every day and I wasn’t scared to do all my tricks on them so by the finals the only trick I had not done was the 1080.

Being on the podium again must have felt great. How does it feel when a plan comes together?

Really good!! It’s cool to be on a podium next to Cam White and Ryan Nyquist. Feels great!!!

mco-itwgute1.jpgDownside of the Cleveland Dew Tour is that you ended up in hospital during Park finals. What happened?

Tried a 1080 and came up a bit sideways and sent my face into the landing. I have a broken nose, have to replace 5 teeth and have 14 stitches in my lip and nose. Sucks

How long are you out for?

I got home last night and feel a lot better today so I’ll either ride tonight or tomorrow.

Next comps on the program?

X-games in a week. Should be fun. Can’t wait to see Dave Mirra rally race
