Dave Mirra checks in with a new Rally update.
I just got home from a rally in Salem, Missouri and it was amazing. This was supposed to be my first gravel rally but it ended up snowing so I got a little more snow practice. I started in the 37th position out of 56 drivers and after 4 stages on Friday night I moved up to 17th overall. On Saturday we have 10 more stages starting first thing in the morning.
So everything was going great, almost too good. By the end of the 13th stage, I had 11th overall locked up and all I had to do is finish. So what do I do, I over shoot a right 4 three miles into the last stage. Great. I hit a tree stump and the car was out of commission. So I dnf’d.
At the end of the day it was another great experience so I will just have to wait for the next rally in April.
Take care,
dm

Wow. Kinda funny to see a lot of the BMXers move from bikes to cars.
Nice car. Vermont Sports Car does a great job with prep (I am assuming this was a Group N prep). Are you only doing Rally America events?
Regardless, good riding with you in G’ville and NCSU back in the mid- late-90s. You guys were always super nice and good to us little people. Good luck with the racing. If Tim hits up another THSCC autoX at G’ville, i will say hi to him there.
Just keep the car on the road. Can’t win if you don’t finish
