BMX Masters, Cologne, Germany

Monday, July 16th, 2007

mco-barbero-masters.jpgOver the weekend the BMX Masters took place in Germany. European Mirraco flow riders Jean Marie Baertsch from Switzerland and Alessandro Barbero from Italy drove over to Cologne to ride together with hundreds of participants in front of thousands of people.

The BMX Masters is a big contest and the vert contest got riders like Mat Hoffman and Simon Tabron on the ramp. Riding with these two legends is reason enough for some riders to get on the deck and join the session. Daniel Dhers actually did so too and finished fourth. Jean-Marie sessioned the ramp and had fun. Simon won, Matt Fairbairn (Australia) finished 2nd and Mat Hoffman got third.

mco-jmb.jpgIn street it’s hard enough to make finals these days. Alessandro qualified in fourth place which secured a spot in the top 12 final round. Four groups of three riders had a good session and the riders didn’t hold back. Alessandro flipped the spine and did a 360 double whip over it. He did a barspin to tire tap on a sub box and went crazy over the funbox with flip whips and his recently learned windshield wiper. Ale got third behind Ben Wallace and Daniel Dhers who did a crazy looking 720 over the box, inverted flairs, 360-double whips and a truckdriver to late tailwhip. The level has gone crazy. It’s hard to keep up.

Next Euro contest: Rebel Jam, Berlin, Germany.

BMXMasters 07 - Best Trick

From the East to the West. By Gator

Friday, July 13th, 2007

mco-mike-spinner.jpgYo what’s up all it was quite the media storm here in Greenville. Jeff Z. and Losey were both in town shooting photos. So keep your eyes open for some serious photos.  Keep your eyes open for Guettler, Mirra, Spinner, and Laird at the next Dew stop in Cleveland. That’s the word from the East.

mco-dave-close-up.jpgNow the West where Rytell, Wise, and Nigel are in San Fran. I talked to Rytell today and all he keeps telling me is that there is non stop riding. So If you’re ever there, take a couple days because it looks like you can’t hit this city in one day. So check out the upcoming webisode to see some of the spots they hit.

Well that’s it for now.

Feel Meee!

Warehouse update by Gator

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

mco-ware2mirra.jpgSo I stopped by the warehouse today around eleven a.m. and to my surprise there was quite the session going on. Mike Laird, Scott Wirch, Allan Cooke, Mirra, Jeremy Fanburg, Josh Boatwright, and Marcus Tooker were riding harder than most of us do on our best day. LOL.

mco-ware3.jpgEven though we all live separate lives, we all share that love for riding our bikes, and don’t think for one second you can’t come through and ride with these guys. You know that feeling you get when riding down the street and there is not a worry in the world. That’s the feeling we all get when we wake up in the morning. So after you get done reading this, grab your bike and go ride……..

Barbero teammate holds him down

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Mco-barbero-trieste.jpgAfter some massive treatment by a well known physical therapist at the RedBull Bikenight in Italy, local hero Alessandro got to ride the contest. Alessandro got teamed up with a mountain bike rider from Croatia and together they had to get to the next round.

mco-barbero-treatment.jpgAlessandro rode a top three run in Italy and checked off trick after trick on the park course. Together with his team mate they made it to the evening program. In the head to head knock-out system they lost in the first round. It wasn’t Alessandro’s fault because he was ripping. The lower score of the MTB rider caused them to go take a shower early on in the evening.

Alessandro’s next contest will be the BMX Masters in Cologne, Germany this weekend. Jean Marie Baertsch will be there too as well as Mirraco boarded Daniel Dhers.

Barbero in Trieste, Italy for RedBull Bikenight

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

mco-barbero.jpgMirraco flow rider Alessandro Barbero from Italy had a bad day yesterday. He hurt his left leg and could not pedal. He opted to take it easy all day to see if you could make it to the last chance qualifying of the RedBull Bike Night in Trieste, Italy. It is hard to keep the Italian stallion away from his Black Pearl. He is going to try to qualify tonight going straight to the finals.

The contest is a little weird in a way that a BMX rider is teamed up with a mountain bike rider. They ride the same Park course for one minute each and the scores get added up together to get the overall points. 6 duo’s already made it to the finals and there are 2 spots open. Can Alessandro make it? It not only depends on his riding tonight, but also on his MTB team mate.
