After the horrible sunday last weekend, we held a good-bye jam at our trails, because we have to close the place. We did a little jam, there was a “Dirty Bar” and our friend gave a little concert in a tent as it started to rain, they also played the bro song:). It was great fun riding our perfectly shaped trails.
I have to get some other surfaces under my tires anyway other than vert, so I’m doing a dirt show with my mates and some mtb’s next weekend at a wakebard contest near Zurich and I’m planning to come to the Red Cross Adventure event in Belgium for the 4th of August, I just have to check with my work. After that me and my mates are going to the Rebel Jam in Berlin where I’m gonna compete in Mini Pro and continue with a little roadtrip across Germany to your FAT Jam in Holland.
There’s more than riding vert alone.

The essentials for dew tour stop 2 in Cleveland, Ohio. The new format this year is definitely a lot of fun but you better be ready for very little resting time in between runs and you better not break your bike. It’s a jam style contest which means you’re in groups of 3 and each rider gets 3 runs of about 45 seconds. So, I recommend bringing an extra bike or not to crash because if you do you’re s.o.l…… So you get the point.
Typically, I’ll bring an extra rear wheel with tire, extra tubes , tools, a spare pair of bars, and maybe some forks. You know what , with jam format I’m not sure it really matters . If you crash and break something on your first run you basically have a minute and a half to fix your bike. I’m not sure that’s going to happen.
As for clothing, I pack up the largest Ogio bag I have with tons of DC shoes and shirts, about six Monster Energy shirts for prelims and hopefully finals, a few pair of riding pants and the obvious socks and boxers.
The most important is that your mind is on the right track for the big event. If you show up thinking how much harder you should’ve been working to prepare for this event then you already defeated yourself. You must be prepared, the way I put it “If you do the homework, the test is easy”.
I hope that works for you.
Good luck, See you in Cleveland.
Peace,
dm

WHAT: Mike Spinner, a hot new BMX star athlete, will meet and greet extreme sports enthusiasts and sign autographs at the Ball Park tent in the Dew Tour Village when the Dew Tour comes to Cleveland. The Dew Tour is a pro action sports tour that features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross competitions over the course of four days.
In addition to meeting Spinner at the Ball Park tent, extreme sports enthusiasts at the Dew Tour can satisfy their hunger for extreme sports by taking the Ball Park challenge - they can test their speed on the Hunger Bungee Run, play the Hunger Challenge arcade arm wresting game to show some muscle or attempt to be the Hungriest Dude at the Hunger Dude High Striker.
WHO: Spinner, a 19 year-old BMX phenomenon whose name matches his talents, took the freestyle world by storm ever since his professional debut last year - during the final leg of the 2006 Dew Tour, he made history by pulling a tailwhip 720, a trick never before landed in competition by an amateur or a pro. Since turning pro and joining Dave Mirra’s team (Mirraco), Spinner continues to set records, including pulling off the world’s first 1080.
WHY: Spinner is one of the hottest athletes at the 2007 Dew Tour and is available for interviews to discuss his BMX career, the ways he satisfies his hunger for extreme sports and his Dew Tour aspirations. As stated in a June 21, 2007 USA Today article, Spinner is “the preseason favorite to win the Dew Cup,” which is awarded after all six Dew Tour events to the athlete with the highest number of points in each of the six disciplines.
WHEN:
Friday, July 20, 2007 4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Sunday, July 22, 2007 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
WHERE: AST Dew Tour Ball Park Tent in the Dew Tour Village North Coast Harbor 751 Erieside Avenue Cleveland, OH 44114

Now that Dave Mirra has his own powder coat facility and the freedom to do with his bike whatever he wants to, it is always a surprise in what color his bike shows up at the next contest. But his friends have discovered Dave’s new hobby too such as Specialized rider Allan Cooke who had his bike painted in a bright pink color with forks and bars to match.
Daniel Dhers had his bike painted in dark purple with golden flakes by somebody up there near Woodward. He wanted to show Dave “What’s up” when it comes down to new paint jobs. Mike Spinner has a new color too, done by the same people, that you can see in the bike check right here. Make sure to check out Mike Laird’s bike too next time you see him (on TV).
The “black frame only” days are definitely over. Bring on the colors. With Dave handling his own paint gun that will be taken care of.
There’s a story about the new frame colors on the Dew AST website. You can read it by hitting this link.

Yo what’s up guys. In case you didn’t know, we just celebrated Ryan Guettler’s Birthday. We had to celebrate a little early because he had to leave early for the Dew Tour. We all got together at Ryan’s house. We ate food and everybody got sucked into the new Props.(editors note: if you want to have a party, don’t play Props because it only ends up with 20 bike riders watching in awe!). Well nonetheless we had a good time introducing Ryan to the ripe old age of 24.
That’s when everything went down south. I was walking out and saw a shady guy up the street, as he made his escape into the woods. We got everyone outside to check all the cars. We found out that two I-Pods, one video I-Pod, 200 hundred dollars in cash we missing and a CD player dropped on his exit. Let’s just say no one wants to end their night like that.
The moral to the story is; lock your doors because if you don’t think it will happen to you, it probally will.
On a brighter note; Happy 24th Ryan.
If you see Ryan in the next week tell him Happy B day! or just give him a high five and tell him good luck in Cleveland……..
It’s been good, I’m out….
Gator
PS. Good Luck to Mirra, Ryan, Laird, and Spinner this weekend at Dew.
