Elevation dirt comp, Canada

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

mco-elevation.jpgIn 2006 Ryan Guettler received an invite to ride the Red Bull Elevation contest in Whistler, Canada. Due to a crash that resulted in a concussion at the first stop of the 2006 Dew tour in Kentucky, Ryan never made it to Canada. Things aren’t looking good for 2007 either:
You see, he left the house with fellow Greenville riders at 3am to go to the airport only to find out that he forgot his passport. He drove all the way back to Greenville to pick up his passport and bought a new flight to Vancouver. For whatever reason this flight got canceled so he drove the two hours back to Greenville to spend the night in his own bed. Traveling is not always fun.

Dew Tour Update

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

mco-guettler-baltimore.jpgYo what’s up this is Gator with a update from the streets. First off though I want to apologize for the website being down, hopefully we won’t have to deal with that again. So here’s what has been going on with the riders of Mirra Co.

Dew Tour Update:

mco-dave-baltimore.jpgMirra: Rode awesome in prelims and ended up qualifying 2nd. Dave came out in finals with huge flip whips down the step down along with a 9 foot turndown out of the big quarter. After talking to Dave he was a little disappointed but already looking forward to the Cleveland stop. Placing 9th

Guettler: Ended up getting 12th in Dirt and in park didn’t make it to finals so he decided to leave the course with a casual Double Flip over the box jump.

dewtour.jpgLaird: Along with Spinner had to compete with 50 other riders to make it in to prelims and that is a task in itself. Laird made it to finals and when he got there he threw down huge flairs and 360 double whips. Placing 8th

Spinner: Spinner made his way up to the finals and when he got there he didn’t stop. Mike came out with 540 whips, 900, and just came a lil short on the 1080 landing him 2nd place. You know he cant wait till Cleveland.

Nigel: Has been up in the City trying to escape the heat. He also doing a photo shoot every other day. This kid has quite the schedule.

Wise: Just got done riding in Tahoe wrapping up for Brian Purdy’s F this S video.
Rytell: Has been riding, riding and riding that is almost a direct quote from his mouth. He’s been filming and from the looks of the new Mirra Co. webisode this kid gots moves. He will also be heading up to Greenville to shoot an ad for Shadow Conspiracy with photographer Jordan Villona.

I also want to say are thoughts go out to Stephen Murray from all of us. Get well soon…..

Win Dave Mirra BMX Challenge PSP game

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

mco-mirra-bmx-challenge.jpgIf you own a PSP and do not have the Dave Mirra BMX Challenge game yet, this is your chance to win one. The people at FATBMX are giving out four Mirra games and an actual PSP game player.

Greenville’s Dave Mirra has won his fair share of X-Games gold medals (14) and has just been invited to ride park at the 2007 X-Games. Expect big bangers from Dave on his Mirraco bike.

That sentence has all the answers to the contest on FATBMX, the only question you need to answer now is why you need that Mirra game.

Here’s a LINK that will take you to the competition.

NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD MIKE SPINNER IS THE LATEST RECRUIT TO THE 6.0 BMX TEAM.

Friday, June 15th, 2007

mco-spinner-nike.jpgMike Spinner. His name has been on the lips of BMX circles for a few years now, and while 2006 was the year when people really sat up and started paying attention, 2007 has truly been a breakout year for this Oceanside, New York native.

At age eight Mike moved with his parents to Miami, and took advantage of year-round riding weather, the street terrain of the Florida city, and the inspiration of his daily riding partners like fellow BMX-er Steve McCann. Every summer Spinner would blaze up from Miami to the Northeast, becoming a yearly fixture at Woodward. He even left his car parked there as a long-standing obstacle… actually, it stopped running in New Jersey and he had it towed to Woodward where it sits today, headlights smashed out and tagged beyond recognition with spray paint.

Unlike his busted car, Spinner is anything but stagnant–this young ripper lives up to his name, and is pushing BMX progression rotation by rotation. In the summer of 2006, Spinner started turning heads doing 720’s and then 720 Tailwhips into the foam pit at Woodward. This is exactly the trick everyone was anticipating at last year’s Dew Tour in Portland. It could’ve been a pressure cooker–Mike remembers peering down course ramps before his run and seeing all the pros watching him. Instead, Mike looked over at his crew of BMX-ers on deck with him, ditched the stress and dropped in–just another session with his friends. He crashed on his first attempt, but got up, and with 40 seconds left in his run, nailed the 720 Tailwhip, making history, gaining a Gold medal, and securing a spot in Orlando for the Tour finals. He joined the Nike 6.0 family a few months later in February 2007.
