Next to riding the bike there are more things to do. If you have the chance to make it to Dubai for a contest, you might as well try to see more than just the hotel and the contest area. It’s not always easy to do this because there is a daily schedule at the event area that keeps you busy.

Mirraco’s distributor over in Dubai had a booth at the contest through one of their dealers (RAGE). The dealership are awaiting their grand opening inside the nearby shopping mall but had a couple of 2008 Mirraco bikes on display at the event. BMX freestyle is relatively new in the middle east but it is catching on and events like the Dubai X-Games can only push it in the right direction. Wael El Monofy came out on Saturday to say hello to the Mirraco riders and snap a few photos.

After the contest was over a group of 23 decided to go on a Safari. Basically you got to go in a 4X4 Landcruiser through the desert until you reach the point where the BBQ is ready and the belly dancer is putting on a show. It was possible to ride a camel too and Nigel didn’t hesitate to grab that opportunity. Good times.
