Mike Mancuso is a pro vert rider from Greenville, North Carolina who travels around a lot to ride contests and shows. Mike recently made the finals in Berlin, Germany where we caught up with him for a bike check on his custom painted Mirraco Blend before he takes off to Orlando for the last stop of the 2007 Dew Tour series. France, Italy, China and now Germany. Alessandro Barbero has been on a winning streak and also won the T-mobile Extreme Playground contest in Berlin. Alessandro was one of the seeded riders in the head to head park contest but faced Mark Webb as his first competitor. Mark has won loads of contests this summer too so it was going to be an interesting battle. Alessandro came out victorious and his three-double whips over the jump box and spine plus flairs and double whips on the quarter pipe helped him out. It was close though. Two rounds later (after eliminating Morgan Wade too) Alessandro met up with Tobias Wicke in the final round for first, or second place. Wicke had some problems pulling the double whip over the box and tried it three times to show the Berlin crowd that he could do it. Tobias had a less than perfect 60 second run and it was up to Alessandro to beat that. Ale’s consistency worked out and next to the tricks mentioned above he also did a whip to whip back, attempted a triple whip on a quarterpipe, did a 3-whip transfer and stuck a couple of tailwhips to icepick on the sub. The victory was his making it his fourth win in a row in four different countries. Here’s a video of Alessandro in Berlin:

Last weekend Alessandro Barbero returned from Shenzhen, China. He was the sole European rider invited to take part at a freestyle contest and managed to win the comp and Best trick contest. Congrats. Yo checking in… Lately I have been getting up at 9 am and going to the school to ride because everyday during the summer it rains everywhere.. that’s the Florida summer for you.. but really just filming for the shadow video and the Mirraco video… just recently just got back from the Flow King of the Rythem jam.. one of the coolest jams I have ever been to. Everyone just going fast and high flowing the jumps like trails.. pretty chill riding jam… when I got back I had a package from the Mirraco office. First Mirraco’s Mike Spinner pulled a 1080 at the X-Air contest in New Zealand. Then there was a rumour about more Mirraco riders working on the 1080 over in Greenville. At the Salt Lake City Dew Tour Ryan Guettler pulled two clean 1080-s in his final runs but what most people didn’t get to see is this 1080 that Dave Mirra did in practice. Sean Hargraves was there though and here’s the sequence. Dave just checked in. He’s going back to school. Rally school that is! Yo what’s up? Just letting everyone know that tomorrow I’m going up to New Hampshire to attend Tim o’Neal’s school of rally. I’m so excited to see what it’s like. I love cars and I love going fast so I guess we’ll see what it’s all about. The goal is see how I like it and possibly race the series next year. Well wassup guys. I just got back from Vegas for Interbike than Portland for a Nike trip which was rainy but good times as always. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but it’s good to be home and we got some good weather out here so I’m pretty siked to be home.
