Dave Mirra on getting to the Dew Tour, stop 2.

mco-dave-dewtour2.jpgThe essentials for dew tour stop 2 in Cleveland, Ohio. The new format this year is definitely a lot of fun but you better be ready for very little resting time in between runs and you better not break your bike. It’s a jam style contest which means you’re in groups of 3 and each rider gets 3 runs of about 45 seconds. So, I recommend bringing an extra bike or not to crash because if you do you’re s.o.l…… So you get the point.

mco-daveMirra-equipment.jpg Typically, I’ll bring an extra rear wheel with tire, extra tubes , tools, a spare pair of bars, and maybe some forks. You know what , with jam format I’m not sure it really matters . If you crash and break something on your first run you basically have a minute and a half to fix your bike. I’m not sure that’s going to happen.

As for clothing, I pack up the largest Ogio bag I have with tons of DC shoes and shirts, about six Monster Energy shirts for prelims and hopefully finals, a few pair of riding pants and the obvious socks and boxers.

mco-dave-flip-whip.jpgThe most important is that your mind is on the right track for the big event. If you show up thinking how much harder you should’ve been working to prepare for this event then you already defeated yourself. You must be prepared, the way I put it “If you do the homework, the test is easy”.

I hope that works for you.

Good luck, See you in Cleveland.

Peace,

dm

    Dave-
Good showing in Cleveland, The fact that you are the master of progression and consistency amazes me. I chose to be based at Seymour Johnson AFB to be close to Greenville, but as sacrifices sometimes have to be made, things have been kinda tight after my second daughter, so I had to Ebay my bike, funny how things work out. I met you few times and you are really a cool guy. Congrats on becoming a family man, Life really has true value after you see those little eyes open up. Well, good luck, maybe I’ll run into you sometime in Gvegas.
