Mirraco team present at FISE contest in France

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

mco-mirra-fise.jpgDave Mirra, Mike Spinner and Mike Laird arrived in Montpellier for the Nokia FISE contest. It took them two days to get to France because of a delay and an extra night in New York. Being on the road is not always pleasant, let’s put it that way.

Â

mco-laird-fise.jpgOn arrival Mike Spinner had a little practice session with Daniel Dhers and Mirraco flow rider Alessandro Barbero. It didn’t look like they had just spent hours traveling to get to the street/park course and things went off straight away.

Â

mco-barbero-fise.jpgDave Mirra and Mike Laird joined a practice session on Friday to get a feel of the course. The set-up is not the greatest in the world but by far not the worst. It has a massive quaterpipe, a spine, a rail, flat banks, jump box, hip, a slanted wall, quarter to rail, bank to wall and more funny bits. Qualifiers are on Saturday with finals planned for Sunday.

Â

mco-spin-to-win-haha.jpgMike Spinner is going to enter pro flatland too on his Black Pearl with no pegs and only one rear brake. Should be interesting.

Â

We’ll be posting more on the FISE in the days to come. Stay tuned.

Mike Spinner update

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007
SpinnerOkay so I got back from China a few days ago but the day I got back I had a good session at Woodward then the next day had to go and drive 4 hours to get to Newark airport 6 in the morning to pick my friend Paul up from MIAMI. We have just been chilling and riding THE city the last few days and I stayed at my friends Adam’s house in New York. Just a few hours ago I just towed my car to my friend Paul’s uncle’s house in New Jersey because my car just broke down so my mission for the next day is to either (A) fix my car and go to Woodward or (B) trash my car and rent a car to Woodward so I don’t miss my flight out to Greenville on Monday to meet up with everybody in Greenville and go to France.

Team mates Spinner and Barbero visit New York City

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007
NYC2When your Italian team mate shows up at Woodward camp you kind of feel bad for him. He came all the way to the USA and only gets to see some amazing ramps. Mike Spinner decided to drive Alessandro up to New York City to visit some museums, hang out at various toy stores and show him the Brooklyn Banks, a popular spot in BMX. Spinner and AlexNext week Mike Spinner is taking his first flight over to Europe. He will meet up with Alessandro in France for the FISE contest. When Americans come to Europe they have things to complain about. Let’s give Mike Spinner a list of European habits that will shock him. -No ice cubes in drinks -No airco NYC1-Euro currency (how much is that?) -”Sorry No speak English” -Wine and Baguette for lunch -No tipping Parrots-Beer for the kids (no 21+) In fact it’s not that bad. Just different. After experiencing China last week I’m sure he can handle France. Au revoir.
