Estonia through the eyes of Mike Spinner

Hot girls only in EstoniaSimple Session 07 This is the First contest of the year and it was an awesome way to start the year off. I would like to say this is my first time out of the country and I could not say how much fun this trip was. I went there with Dave Mirra and Mike Laird (Mike got hurt a week before so he couldn’t ride but he was still so stoked to be there). When we got off the plane it was only 4pm but it felt like 11 because of the whole time change so we knew we couldn’t go to sleep. We just went out and met up with a bunch of people and that turned into just a party till 3am. Little snow on arrival - SpinnerThe next day was practice it was crazy like 80 people on the course, It was a unique course tho like it had something for everybody quarters, hips and a wedge to wedge box jump but also a whole street side ledges and wedges. That night was a party it ended close to 4am. Spinner in your faceThe next day was prelims which I am glad to say I was there to see some amazing riding. That night everybody went out even if you were in finals and had to wake up at a decent time it didn’t matter. Okay Finals was pretty crazy and I mean that everybody stepped it up. Heres just a list of things I saw all weekend: Aaron Ross smith up a ledge to whip and 360 off, Dustin Guenther fu’ed out of the 10ft quarter on the side of the vert wall, Ronnie Surridge inverted 360, Tony Watkinson Invert to tailwhip, Hannu Cools 360 footjams up the step up, Tailwip to x-up - SpinnerMike Miller just over clicking everything, Danny Hickerson hang nothing across a long ledge and stuck a bottom side icepick that was help for a minute, Corey Martinez big bunnyhop whip gap off of a quarter into a wedge, Dave Osato 540 nosepick a slanted wall, Sebastian Keep who got 2nd in High air contest And just flowed the whole place, Josh Harrington who won High air and whipped from the 10ft quarter over the mini ramp into a wedge, Alistair Whitton Flowed the whole place 360 downside whiped the box, Alessandro Barbero 3 double whiped the box, ME (Mike Spinner) 720d the box, 810d the hip and 5 whipped the quarter, Mark Webb Who I can honestly Say can flair ANYTHING !!!!!!!!, Ben Hennon Flip whipped up the step up and Superman to late tailwhipped the box, Chase Hawk 360d and 180d Everything With style and Height and alley oop 3d the wall to roll in to fakie first try, Dave Mirra Flipwhipped the box 360 one hand one foot OPPO, Flair turndown and Flair whipped the 10ft quarter like 10 feet high. The After party was prettty nuts Everybody went out till like 8am This was by far the best trip I have ever been on On and off the bike. Things that made this trip even better CATFISH was there as an announcer, every single girl in Estonia is HOT !!!!!!!!!!!

Weekly team update by Gator

Dave RytellRytell: Is now riding for a local bike shop called Mud, Sweat and Gear. When asked about he simply said I’m real stoked. Enough said Dave. Michael Cleveland Cleveland: Well let’s see what’s new in the last week. I have been just working everyday washing cars trying not to freeze to death since the temp has been in the 30’s and low 40’s. so washing cars is really not that fun. Last week I clocked in just over 100 miles on my road bike, so I’m pretty stoked about that. Also I’ve been trying to ride bmx like 3 or 4 nights a week trying to learn some new stuff and just keep stuff dialed in. Nigel Sylvester = NYCNigel: Riding street and getting ready for the winters up in N.Y. I’m sure L.R.G. makes some good sweatys to keep Nigel warm. Guettler: Is still in Australia enjoying their summer. He’s also hitting some contest over seas and he will be also hitting up New Zealand. Table over the Estonian hip - MirraGator: The past week has been a huge party and im retreating to sobriety for the next week. Wish me luck! Also try to catch the episode of Stunt Junkies With Allan Cooke flipping the Van jump a tribute to our good friend Colin Winkelmann. Miss You 4-5-6. It will be aired on the Discovery Channel. Thank you to Mike Laird, Jeremy Fanburg, Nate Wessel, and everyone else that made it possible. Mirra, Spinner, Laird: Check the Estonia reports on the Mirraco site Gator

Spinner in your faceGood times…….good times….. these words were used a lot over the weekend. The atmosphere was great. After a few “contest-free” months it was good to get together at an event where results do matter but just riding and hanging out with everyone was just as important. Props to the organization for pulling off such a cool event and having Dave and his boys there. Massive flair on the 10ft.Oh yeah, you wanted results: Park: BMX Street FINAL results: 1 Josh Harrington USA 485 2 Chase Hawk USA 479 3 Dave Mirra USA 456 4 Sebastian Keep GBR 446 5 Alistair Whitton GBR 442 6 Ben Hennon GBR 439 7 Mark Webb GBR 436 Double whip over the Spinner hip8 Mike Spinner USA 422 9 Danny Hickerson USA 420 10 Alessandro Barbero ITA 418 11 Nicolas Cambon FRA 404 12 Aaron Ross USA 398 13 Corey Martinez USA 398 14 Sergio Layos SPA 397 15 Dave Osato CAN 396 16 Martyn Cooper GBR 381 17 Mike Miller GBR 375 18 Senad Grosic AUT 367 19 Mark König GER 347 20 Bjorn Mager GER 346 High air: 1. Both Spinner and Mirra make the final in Estonia

Sunday, January 14th, 2007
Monster truckingGood times are had in Tallinn. The qualifiers and some amazing riding and both Mike Spinner and Dave Mirra made it to the main event. The top twenty guys will be battling it out tomorrow and also the high air competition has changed to Sunday. Here are some of the tricks that the Mirraco riders did to make the cut: Tailwip to x-up - SpinnerSpinner: 360 x-up to turndown, an 810 spin over the hip, footjam tailwhip grabbing the seat, a 270 whip and a turndown 360. Yes he was spinning that Black Pearl like crazy. Table over the Estonian hip - MirraMirra: Dave’s flairs on the 10 ft quarter pipe are nuts. He also jumped the box with a 360 taking a hand and a foot off, pulled a huge downside whip and a 360-tailwhip as well. For street credibility he threw in a crooked grind on the rail. Mirraco riders arrived in Tallinn, Estonia.

Friday, January 12th, 2007
Mike Laird at the ElephantDave Mirra, Mike Laird and Mike Spinner arrived in Estonia for the Simpel Session contest. It is always good to see that both the riders and their luggage made it all to Tallinn after a couple of flight changes although Mike Laird did arrive with both hands in a cast after a bank to backflip attempt went wrong during the week. Spinner at dinnerContest organizer Risto Kalmre took us out to the Elephant restaurant in the amazing old town while the riders were adjusting to the time change after a long flight. The schedule looks like this: Friday: Practice session Saturday: Qualification Sunday: Finals

Mirraco in RIDE BMX mag

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007
RIDEBMX March 2007The March issue of RIDE BMX has some Mirraco coverage that we’d like to share with you. First of all Dave Rytell gets his own Mirraco advertisement and on the next page we have Ryan Guettler going wild in a Vans ad. Look closely and try to figure out what the hell he’s doing upside down like that. RIDEBMX USARIDEBMX magazine coverageNigel Sylvester gets a write up about him picking up sponsors left and right. There’s a plug on Mirra’s video game and some photos of Dave and Guettler at the Arby’s Action Sports Awards. To finish up, Mike Spinner does a 3-whip to turn down over a spine that is captured in a sequence. Looking forward to the next issue already.
